New Offerings Enhance Horton's Expanding Product Portfolio

11/02/2016

ROSEVILLE, Minnesota - Horton, a premium provider of engine cooling solutions worldwide, announces two new offerings that enhance its expanding product portfolio – the HTEC 1800 fan and RCV1000 fan drive. The new products provide engine-cooling solutions for customers in the off-highway industry seeking increased productivity, fuel efficiency, reliability and noise reduction.

HTEC 1800

Development of the Horton Thermoset Engineered Composite (HTEC) 1800 fan follows closely behind the HTEC 2500, which was launched June 2015. HTEC fans combine industrychanging material technology with Horton custom engineering capabilities to meet and exceed cooling requirements. Not a thermoplastic, this patent-pending structural thermoset delivers several benefits including increased efficiency, a higher temperature and speed rating, best-inclass durability, corrosion resistance, reduced fuel consumption, significant noise reduction and compatibility with Horton Modulator® Fan Drives for variable-speed control.

Horton’s HTEC 1800 fan has been engineered for rigorous off-highway applications including large mining trucks, remote radiator packages, generator sets and fracking units. The HTEC 1800 fan is available in diameters of 47 to 72 inches, weighs 30 lbs. and up, and has a maximum tip speed of 22,000 ft./min.

RCV1000

Another new offering from Horton is the RCV1000, a variable fan drive that is a smaller version of its RCV2000, previously launched in 2015. The RCV1000 is engineered to use with the HTEC 1800 fan and provides precision cooling for large-bore diesel applications including mining trucks and power generators. Several features enable the RCV1000 to deliver maximum cooling efficiency such as greater heat dissipation, an innovative reservoir, actuator and valve system and an optimized magnetic design that speeds reaction time, increasing modulation and cooling. Featuring a simple wiring configuration, the full-range variable speed control reduces operating noise and lowers fuel costs.

“Horton continues to listen to its customers and focus on delivering the best solutions to meet their needs for demanding applications in the off-highway market,” said Manish Virmani, vice president of Global Market Development for Horton. “Adding the HTEC 1800 fan and RCV1000 fan drive to our growing product portfolio offers our customers more industry-leading options when it comes to engine cooling solutions.”

Horton Expands Line of Viscous Fan Drives

07/16/2015

Roseville, Minn. — Horton, Inc. has expanded its line of viscous fan drives with the introduction of the new live center LCV40 and LCV80 models.

According to Horton, the LCV40 and LCV80 fan drives have been designed to meet the rigorous needs of multiple OEM and aftermarket off-highway applications including medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, agriculture, construction and generator sets.

The new fan drives feature a lightweight, compact design with a unique housing and cover for greater heat dissipation, reduced fan noise and improved airflow.

Both fan drives boast low off-speeds that greatly reduce parasitic loss while providing more available horsepower and impressive fuel savings.

As organizations continue to focus on reducing equipment downtime, the completely-sealed design of Horton’s LCV40 and LCV80 will relieve some of the pressure with its superior durability and maintenance-free operation.

Horton Introduces HTEC 2500 Fan

07/14/2015

Roseville, Minn. — Horton, Inc. has announced the introduction of its new HTEC 2500 composite fan series, specifically designed for rigorous off-highway applications.

“Equipment in the mining, construction, and oil and gas industries endures harsh operating conditions,” says Nels Johnson, Horton’s vice president of business development. “The HTEC 2500 fan has been engineered to provide unmatched performance and durability in those environments.”

This latest innovation from the 65-year-old manufacturer of fans and fan drives ushers in a new era in fan development as the first and only fan on the market produced using a structural thermoset composite rather than traditional plastic or metal.

The HTEC 2500 provides excellent corrosion resistance and anti-spark operation for hazardous working environments. The computer-optimized fan blade design provides greater cooling efficiency while reducing noise and fuel consumption.

This new patent-pending fan is constructed with a proprietary thermoset material to achieve greater durability, high tip speeds and a higher operating temperature rating than metal or molded fans for aggressive customer applications.

The HTEC 2500 pairs perfectly with the Horton Modulator RCV2000 fully variable fan drive for even greater performance and is also compatible with other manufacturer’s fan drives.

Horton Launches Upgrade Packages for Generator Sets

06/12/2015

Roseville, Minn. − Horton, Inc. today announced the introduction of the first generation of its line of complete fan and fan drive upgrade packages available for towable generator sets.

Currently available for a number of CAT® and Multiquip® generator sets, the upgrade packages will improve the performance of units operating with first-fit direct drive fans. The package’s key component, Horton’s industry-leading variable speed fan drive, ensures that the unit’s fan turns at the optimal speed to provide the ideal level of engine cooling.

In addition to more effective engine cooling, the upgrade packages deliver additional benefits that are hard to miss including decreased radiator clogging; a dramatic reduction in operating noise; and potential fuel savings of up to 10 percent.

Another significant advantage of the Horton variable speed fan drive is its improvement of the generator set’s cold weather performance by avoiding overcooling the engine. Unlike direct drive fans, Horton’s variable speed fan drive doesn’t run at full speed continuously. This ideal cooling control maintains the engine operating temperature, helping to eliminate wet stacking and crankcase breather freezing issues.

Upgrade packages are available as a single product number and include a variable speed fan drive, fan and a complete installation kit for easy procurement and installation.

Packages for additional popular generator set models are scheduled to launch in the coming months.

Horton Provides Genuine Product Guidance

05/28/2015

Roseville, Minn. -- In response to a growing number of non-genuine replacement parts available online, Horton, Inc. recommends its customers exercise caution when considering these purchases and choose wisely.

“The product descriptions, part numbers and pictures used can be very misleading,” said Nels Johnson, Horton’s vice president of business development. “There are products being positioned as actual Horton products when they’re simply manufactured to fit existing Horton products.”

Horton designs and manufactures hundreds of different fan drives, fans, upgrade packages and diagnostic tools to industry-leading standards. Horton’s entire catalog of products are carefully produced and tested in their facilities in Roseville, Minnesota; Britton, South Dakota; Carmel, Indiana, and Schweinfurt, Germany.

“Horton products are designed to exacting specifications,” remarked Johnson. “Just because a product fits doesn’t mean it’s going to provide the needed performance, uptime, reliability and durability that genuine Horton parts provide.”

Horton has spent decades building a global system of sales experts and authorized Horton distributors. The company’s network of QuickShip locations ensures that customers are able to get the products they need quickly, dramatically reducing downtime. Horton’s customer service professionals are available to help any customer find the ideal fit for their specific application.

Whether you’re specifying Horton products for original equipment or repairing or upgrading existing equipment, insist on only genuine Horton products. They’re the only ones guaranteed to perform like Horton products.
